Temporary Works Engineer / Temporary Works Coordinator – Sizewell C (Suffolk)

An excellent opportunity has opened for a Temporary Works Engineer / Coordinator to join a major delivery team on the landmark Sizewell C nuclear new-build project. This role offers years of secured work, career progression, and the chance to be part of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes.

We’re looking for someone with experience in Civil Engineering or Construction, ideally with a background in FRC, structures, or temporary works. A full UK driving licence is required due to site travel.

Role Overview

You’ll take responsibility for coordinating the design, checking, installation, maintenance and safe removal of all temporary works on site — ensuring full compliance with BS5975:2024 and principal contractor procedures.
You will act as the key interface between designers, checkers, site engineers and project management, ensuring all temporary works are planned, documented, inspected and controlled effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all temporary works activities, ensuring clear design briefs and accurate site information
  • Liaise with permanent works designers regarding temporary load cases and construction stages
  • Ensure designs are completed, independently checked, and issued through proper document controls
  • Brief site teams on design limitations, key risks and required controls
  • Oversee inspections, maintenance, permits to load/proceed, and approvals for dismantling
  • Mentor Temporary Works Supervisors and support site engineers
  • Provide buildability and TW input to project/tender teams

Experience & Skills

  • Strong civil engineering background
  • Experience with temporary works and/or reinforced concrete structures
  • Understanding of CDM regulations
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage safety-critical processes and documentation

Qualifications

  • Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • CITB TWC (can be provided)
  • SSSTS/SMSTS
  • CSCS card
