A leading contractor delivering major clean and wastewater infrastructure across the South is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a long-term AMP8 programme. Based out of the Falmer office in Brighton, this is a stable and secured framework with multi-year visibility of work and strong progression pathways.
About the Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take a lead role in managing the commercial delivery of a range of clean and wastewater infrastructure projects across the region. These schemes will typically include pipeline installations, network upgrades, pumping station refurbishments, civils works, MEICA interfaces and associated reinstatement activities.
You will manage multiple work packages from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring all commercial processes are followed in line with NEC contract requirements. This includes cost reporting, forecasting, procurement of subcontractors, management of change, compensation events, subcontract administration, and supporting project managers with commercial decision-making.
You will work closely with the wider commercial team, engineers, delivery managers and the client to provide accurate commercial information and support the successful financial performance of each project. Ensuring strong subcontractor relationships, robust contract management and timely reporting will be essential.
The role will be primarily office based in Falmer. Following the initial induction period, you will transition into a hybrid working pattern with a blend of office, site and home-based work.
About You
You will have strong experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civils, utilities or water infrastructure projects. Previous involvement in framework delivery or water-sector programmes (AMP cycles) is highly advantageous.
You must have solid working knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly Options A and E, as these form the basis of the commercial approach on this programme. Experience managing subcontractor packages, producing CVRs, tracking costs, managing compensation events, and running projects commercially is essential.
We are looking for someone who can work independently, support junior QSs when required, and contribute positively to a growing commercial team. A degree in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline is preferred but not essential if backed by strong experience.
Key Requirements:
• Previous experience as a QS/SQS in civils, utilities or water projects
• Strong understanding of NEC (Options A and E essential)
• Ability to manage multiple work packages
• Commercial reporting, forecasting and cost control capability
• Strong subcontract management skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Based within a commutable distance of Brighton (Falmer)
What’s on Offer
This is a long-term, stable position on a secured water-sector framework with excellent career development opportunities. You will be working alongside an established delivery team with support from commercial leads, project managers and engineers across the region. A competitive salary and benefits package is available along with hybrid working following the initial onboarding.
If you’re an experienced QS or Senior QS looking for a long-term role within a major water programme, this position offers a fantastic opportunity to step into a high-visibility role with significant career potential.
