Senior Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + package

Location: Welwyn Gardens (AL7 4SP)

Permanent / Freelance position

I am working with a respected contractor specialising in groundworks, civil engineering, RC frame, demolition projects across London and the Home Counties. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, based from their head office in Welwyn.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take a lead role in the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring cost efficiency and successful delivery. Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing commercial performance across a portfolio of groundworks and RC frame projects.
• Leading subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and management.
• Preparing valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Forecasting costs and reporting to senior management.
• Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, groundworks, or RC frame projects.
• Strong commercial acumen and contract knowledge (NEC/JCT).
• Excellent negotiation, reporting, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Based within commuting distance of Welwyn, with flexibility to visit sites as required.
