Senior Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre Project (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Immediate Start | Permanent Position | Major Tier 1 M&E Contractor

An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading international contractor on a large-scale hyperscale data centre project in Amsterdam. This is a key role within a high-performing project team delivering critical infrastructure in one of Europe’s fastest-growing sectors.

You will take ownership of mechanical systems delivery across design, coordination, installation and commissioning, ensuring all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the mechanical systems package from early design through installation, testing, and commissioning
  • Coordinate technical information, drawings, and submittals between consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Monitor on-site works, ensuring compliance with project specifications, QHSE requirements, and programme deadlines
  • Support project planning, progress tracking, and risk identification
  • Prepare technical reports, updates, and documentation for internal and client meetings
  • Assist with subcontractor management, including performance, manpower and schedule reviews
  • Promote and uphold QHSE standards across all mechanical activities
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to align technical expectations and resolve issues
  • Develop mechanical commissioning schedules in collaboration with the Cx team, vendors, and other disciplines
  • Support project close-out activities, including snagging, testing, commissioning, and handover documentation

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a Mechanical Engineer role on large-scale projects (data centre, pharma, industrial or similar)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems within a design & build environment
  • Knowledge of construction regulations and health & safety standards
  • Strong communication, organisational, and coordination skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
  • Detail-orientated, proactive and able to thrive in a fast-paced project environment
