A leading UK civil-engineering contractor delivering complex infrastructure and enabling-works packages across energy, industrial, highways and large-scale development sectors. The business employs several hundred engineering, commercial, quality, and construction specialists, delivering projects ranging from S278 highways and access roads to reinforced concrete works, car parks, utilities, earthworks and specialist facilities such as concrete batching plants.
Their teams are currently engaged on one of the UK’s most high-profile energy developments, delivering critical enabling-works and infrastructure packages that support long-term construction activities.
Sizewell C is a nationally significant nuclear-energy project in Suffolk that will deliver low-carbon electricity for millions of homes. The project requires extensive enabling works, including:
S278 roads and highway modifications
Access roads and large site car parks
Utility and services installation
Construction of a major concrete batching plant
General civil-engineering and site-preparation activities
This role forms part of the infrastructure delivery team supporting these critical early-stage works.
The Quality Assurance Lead will oversee project-wide quality compliance, documentation, inspection processes and handover readiness across multiple civil-engineering work packages. You will work closely with site engineering teams, subcontractors, planners, safety specialists and design management to ensure all works meet contractual, technical and regulatory standards.
Lead the project’s quality-assurance function, ensuring works meet client, regulatory and specification requirements.
Manage and maintain quality documentation including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), check sheets, equipment registers and technical records.
Coordinate with engineers and subcontractors to track inspections, approvals, non-conformances and corrective actions.
Support the development and implementation of project quality plans and procedures.
Assist design coordinators/managers with quality documentation, technical submissions and compliance records.
Prepare high-quality handover documentation including Handover Files and O&M Manuals.
Ensure quality processes align with health, safety and environmental requirements.
Provide proactive support on site to maintain high standards of workmanship, materials handling and installation quality.
Adapt to operational challenges and maintain effective communication across interdisciplinary teams.
Background in civil engineering, construction, infrastructure or similar project-delivery environments.
Must have a concrete engineering background.
Strong understanding of quality processes within construction (ITPs, NCRs, O&M docs, quality plans, check sheets, handover).
Good knowledge of materials, plant, logistics and relevant health & safety legislation.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Competency in documentation control and digital record management.
Relevant construction-related qualification (degree, HNC/HND or equivalent).
CSCS essential; SSSTS/SMSTS beneficial; Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) advantage.
Eligible to work in the UK.
