The Company

I am currently working with a Design & Build building services contractor who provide a full range of environmental engineering services encompassing air conditioning, heating, ventilation and public health services. They manage mechanical services projects up to the value of £4m and their management team have a vast amount of experience in working on residential, education, retail, commercial and industrial projects. Their modern facilities are fully computerised, incorporating AutoCAD drawing facilities and numerous design and estimating software packages. Their installation services and commissioning engineers are all fully industry qualified and trained on all market leading products.

The Role

This role would suit a Mechanical Estimator looking for a long-term permanent role within a growing company who can offer you an exciting opportunity to progress your career up to managerial level.

The successful applicant should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience and hold building services qualifications, in addition to this, must be capable of demonstrating previous successful experience of mechanical estimating within the range of £300,000 to £3m (Mechanical value)

They will also provide office-based support to the onsite Project Manager for the duration of the projects, so good technical knowledge is essential. They will be required to price Variations and assist the Purchasing/Procurement Manager with these.

Main duties:-

• To handle tender preparation from acceptance of enquiry through to final submission working to strict deadlines throughout
• Understand and scrutinise Project Specifications & Drawings
• To liaise with clients where necessary and to obtain specific information relevant to tender content and preparation
• Carry out site visits and surveys
• To obtain prices for bought out items and sub-contracts against relevant specifications, criteria and conditions
• To make a preliminary assessment of overhead costs and prepare tender summaries for management agreement
• To prepare material and labour take-off for pricing
• Produce a detailed bill of quantities
• To delegate and supervise work carried out by the estimating team
• To comply with Group and Company policies and procedures
