This Local authority is looking for a Technical Officer to join the Fire Safety Team to help with technical and administrative support to the department with a customer service focus. This role will see you proactively manage while ensuring that matters of urgency and sensitivity are prioritised and dealt with, in conjunction with the fire safety officer and brought to the attention of the Manager in a timely manner.

As the Technical Officer you will be expected to display the flexibility required to develop the technical knowledge and skills required to provide support within the Fire Safety Team. You will be a strong ‘team player’ in support of the Business Plans, operational objectives and Performance Indicators. The chosen Technical Officer will possess excellent organisational skills, be methodical and accurate in your approach with attention to detail.

Key duties

• Cross referencing contractor FRA inspections to raise POs for completed works. To present a weekly / monthly report on activities of contractors to the manager to authorise payments.
• FRA renewal schedule weekly reports to confirm FRAs are required to be carried out. Notify the manager following the checks and monitor the FRA has been issued to a contractor.
• Review Reports of Actions from FRAs allocated to Head of Fire Compliance on a weekly basis and notify when new actions are in and status of existing.
• To deal with, in first instance correspondence and enquiries, including those from outside organisations in line with the Council’s corporate guidance and timescales.
• Proficient in the use of Excel / Word / PowerPoint, and all other Council IT systems (training will be provided for Council specific IT systems).
• To prepare and present verbally, and in writing, in a clear, concise and comprehensive form, reports on technical issues. 
• To proactively manage the FRA website to ensure a Fire Risk Assessments are available and correct.
• Go to sites to carry out inspections where necessary.

On offer to the chosen Technical Officer is an hourly rate of £22.50 per hour on a 6 month contract.
