An infrastructure solutions company that was founded over 100 years ago and is one of the oldest civil engineering companies in the UK has been given the responsibility of providing the drainage services for a large scale highways project and is needing a Section Engineer to join their team.

Section Engineer role

Reporting to the Drainage Agent, the section engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the work elements under their control are delivered to the correct quality and in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. Working collaboratively with the wider project team to deliver successful project outcomes.

Other responsibilities include:

• Ensure all RAMS are in place prior to works commencing and prepare where required.
• Raise & issue permits as required.
• Ensure ITPs and MARs are in place prior to works commencing and prepare where required.
• In conjunction with the discipline Supervisor ensure that plant, labour and materials for each item of work are identified and available in good time.

Section Engineer required qualification and skills:

• Civil Engineering related qualification (HNC, HND, BSc MSc, BEng, MEng).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering highways drainage and roadworks.
• The ability to manage and control tasks and lead a team.
• Site Supervisory Safety Training SSSTS (minimum)/Site Management Safety Training SMSTS (preferred).
• Relevant CSCS Card.
• Other relevant training (preferred includes Confined Space entry and management, NRSWA, CPCS Appointed Person, relevant lifting training and temporary works co-ordination).
• Understanding of Engineering Principles and extensive technical knowledge of specifications (Spec for Highway Works), construction techniques and best practices.
