Due to continued success in winning Rail projects and schemes, a unique and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Shift Manager in central London.

 

Job Function

As the Shift Manager, you will support the Sub Agent in the operation and successful delivery of key project works, at specified work sites. Ensuring fully that safety and quality standards are met, also in accordance to the client’s needs, time and budget is paramount in this role.

 

The Job Mandate

  • Site work conducted with safety, regard of the protection of workforce, public and the environment.
  • Ensure construction works are carried out efficiently, to the expected level of required quality, all in accordance with the contract programme.
  • All certificates, including assurance and compliance certificates are generated and collated properly.
  • Comply with CDM regulations, and particularly the CDM Health and Safety file is compiled.
  • Assist with preparing and reviewing Method Statements, ITP’s, Design Brief’s and all LUL (London Underground) required paperwork, when you are not managing works on site.
  • Materials procurement and approval process.
  • Assistance to the weekly on-site progress reports.
  • Report to the Sub-Agent: supervision of the site team during construction to completion and handover.
  • Assistance with construction strategy (includes: meetings, documentation such as Method Statements, Environmental/Quality Plans, Construction programmes, procurement and design schedules.
  • Assisting with temporary works design schemes.
  • Liaise with Sub-Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works.
  • Site engineering team management and responsibility of the performance / development of site and Section Engineers.
  • Working with the Sub-Agent, you will take responsibility for identifying and resolving technical site issues.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of construction operations.
  • Liaise with key partners ensuring contract compliance with current regulations and legislation.
  • Co-ordinate, monitor and manage subcontractors (Civils Works & MEP)
  • Ensure that the site team have all necessary documentation, information and resources, to carry out their duties.
  • Assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans and contribute to financial forecasting, site measurement, material reconciliation and cost control.
  • Assist subordinate staff with career development.

 

The Shift Manager’s Profile

  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in an Engineering discipline.
  • Proven, experience in carrying out similar works and tasks.
  • Must have experience in medium / large size projects in preparation, documentation, procurement, planning, set up and execution of the works, supervision and coordination of the activities, preferably tunnel and London Underground projects, working directly on site.
  • Good Computer skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer.
  • Supervisory CSCS Card (Black).
  • Valid SMSTS Certificate
  • Confined Spaces Training Certificate.
  • First Aid Training Certificate
  • LU Sentinel Card.
