Quantity Surveyor (HS2, Tier 2)

Salary:  to £55k + excellent package

Based:  Buckinghamshire (HP17)

2 of the UK’s leading Specialist civils contractors has secured a major HS2 project, and requires a Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

They will be carrying out an initial £100m package of work along a key route for HS2.  The works will comprise of diaphragm walls, complex structures, bridge schemes, piling (different forms) and soil nailing.  The role will be to support the Lead Commercial Manager in delivering the work, alongside assisting in the management and development of the more junior Quantity Surveyor’s in the team.  Over the duration of the project you will likely commercially deliver in the region of £20m worth of packages.

Daily Activities Will involve:

• Reviewing and negotiation of contracts
• Commercially deliver the works
• Advise and guide the operational and delivery teams on key commercial issues
• Prepare internal and external evaluations
• Sub-contract negotiation
• Identify and prepare claims

About You:

• Have a strong NEC background (the contract will be delivered under Option C, D & E)
• Ideally degree qualified
• Good client interfacing skills
• Be able to spot commercial opportunity
• Look for a long term role (the contract is for 3 years, following that the company will have a number of opportunities elsewhere in other divisions)
