Salary:  to £120k + package

Based:  London (NW10)

Are you a Pre-Construction Manager looking for a new challenge with a growing, forward thinking Tier 2 civils contractor?

We have an exciting role for a Pre-Construction Manager to join an established contractor and take up a key role within their growing civils division.  The works cover rail, highways, inner city developments, aviation and defence with contracts ranging in size up to £60m.

The role will see you take ownership of the operational side of the tendering and Pre-Construction Process.  You will report directly to the Directors and work closely with the other divisional managers.

Key focus will be to:

• Achieve high scoring on Technical element of tender submissions.
• Achieve increase awards on tenders
• Repeat business with key clients

The role will involve:

• Manage all aspects of the operational tender inputs between programme, technical, BIM, methodology and resources to ensure one co-ordinated message.
• Review tenders with the estimating team before confirming or declining.
• Shared ownership of tender and workload programme with Head of Estimating
• Manage preconstruction team to ensure return dates and deliverables are achieved.
• Good understanding of Engineering within the civils environment, provide technical / methodology overview to our engineering department to develop.
• Produce and manage the tender methodology.
• Liaise with estimating team to ensure methodology and programme align with the price, clearly identifying labour outputs.
• Manage tender programme requirements, incl. capability to produce tender programmes and also manage programmers.
• Good understanding of BIM to be able to identifying potential BIM requirements / opportunities within tenders, and liaising with our BIM team to implement.
• Be the face of the business from pre – mid – post tender including producing and delivering presentations as needed.
• Monitor the tender register and take ownership on chasing submitted tenders.
• Engage with buying team where specialist materials are required.
• Engage with plant team to utilise their knowledge and expertise.
• Assist estimators with outputs or specialist subcontractor requirements.
• Identify environmental requirements from contracts / specifications etc and review with the Estimating team and environmental team for inclusions / exclusions.
• Good knowledge of Health and Safety requirements within the sector.
• Site visits and client meetings prior to tender submissions.
• Present operational / technical tender settlements to Directors.
• Building good relationships with clients to achieve repeat business.
• Handover of tenders to site teams.

The ideal candidate will have sub-contracting experience and will have knowledge of both NEC and JCT contracts.
