This role requires substantial experience as a Clerk of Works, Surveyor or Trade Foreman on new and occupied sites. This progressive and expanding consultancy provide construction services to the commercial sector, educational establishments, housing associations, third sector bodies and community groups.
Typical projects are planned maintenance programmes, building refurbishment, extensions, demolition and new construction from initial appraisal (RIBA Work Stage A) to post practical completion (RIBA Work Stage L).
Your role will be to prepare and write progress records, prepare and attend defects inspections and ensure that schedules are maintained and defects are rectified before the expiration of the liability period. Create and maintain effective and co-operative working with site managers, contractors, clients and other consultants. Make recommendations both orally and in writing about any aspect of the works which do not conform to the plans, specifications or schedules of works.
You will have an in depth knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory requirements and regulations including CDM, Asbestos, Scaffolding and Planning /Building Regulations and their related compliance requirements. Most project come under JCT but an understanding of other contract forms and terms of contract would be beneficial.
You will continuously monitor work on site in accordance with the Contractors Method Statements and the Construction Health and Safety Plan whilst endeavouring to ensure the safety of all persons affected by the works, maintaining and issuing weekly progress reports for all visits, including weather, instructions, amendments, labour force, quality, Health and Safety and test results etc.
