Outage Planning Engineer

If you're an Electrical Engineer with previous experience working in the power utility sector and you're looking for a new challenge, you will be interested in this position. You'll be working for a major power company as part of a team responsible for the planning of network outages on 33kV/132kV distribution networks. You'll be responsible for the following activities:
Formulating and maintaining the network outage programme by liaising with staff internal and external to the company, to ensure that the construction and maintenance requirements of all parties are co-ordinated in the safest, most secure and cost-effective manner.
Making adjustments to the programme to reflect emergency outages or faults.
Updating the network modelling program as system changes occur.
Utilising network analysis techniques to determine pre and post-fault system running arrangements and contingency plans based on strict safety and security criteria.
Decision making following analysis of the risk posed to the system through short and long term outages and running conditions
Advising the Network Control team on operational, technical and safety procedures - i.e. providing advice to control staff on switching sequences necessary to maintain system voltages/ load flows and fault levels
They are looking for someone with a sound operational experience, with well developed business, communication and interpersonal skills. You'll also be able to build good working relationships within the team and other staff within the business, and have the ability to plan and co-ordinate work to tight deadlines. You'll be expected to have a minimum qualification of HNC Electrical Engineering / degree or equivalent.
