SENIOR BUILDING STANDARDS SURVEYOR

There is an excellent opportunity for an MBeng, ABE or RICS (or equivalent) accredited Principal Building Control Officer in the Edinburgh region with at least Building Standards experience in a secure and rewarding local authority. Those with experience in Scotland are at a great advantage; however, those qualified in England will be considered. This is a permanent role.

In return, you can expect to receive a strong salary of up to £35,000 and various benefits which are negotiable, including extra training, career progression development and a car allowance for the right candidate. You can also expect to receive other benefits including expenses and a final salary pension. You will report to the Head of Building Control and be directly responsible for your own small team, possibly covering the whole departments in times of absence of other staff members.

Eligibility is dependant on the following criteria:

• You must hold a relevant Degree or HND related to Building Control;
• Have the right to work in the UK;
• Ability to demonstrate leadership skills; those with a qualification relative to management or those with strong managerial experience are at a distinct advantage;
• A chartered member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or the Association of Building Engineers;
• Experience dealing with Plan Checking and signing off these Plans without supervision;
• A track record of going out on site and leading Site Inspections, both residential and commercial;
• Must hold a full UK driving License;
• Comfortable and efficient using all MS Office programs.
