Field Test Engineer

You'll join the cabling division of a leading contractor that installs and maintains power cable systems across the entire voltage range and offers a full range of testing services.

Test Engineer responsibilities include

  • Contact with internal and external customers, receiving and prioritising tasks.
  • Planning own workload, travel and equipment requirements.
  • Managing the maintenance, calibration and development of equipment.
  • Attending at customers' sites across a wide geographical area and performing required tests.
  • Providing factual reports and costings.
  • Maintaining safe working practices.
  • Providing and receiving assistance and training to/from colleagues.
  • Undertaking training to meet company and customer requirements.

You should have prior relevant experience in the testing of power cables.

Relevant experience may include

  • Testing of any type of power or communication cable in field, production or development settings.
  • Electrical installation or electrical product testing, especially at high voltage.

You should be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in electrical engineering and be prepared for frequent travel within the UK and the occasional overnight stay.
