Reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of a contract package within the multi disciplined environment of a major resignalling project team. Newport Area Signalling Renewal (NASR) is currently the largest signalling project nationally (circa £150m) and is about to enter the implementation phase. There are opportunities within the Project Team based in Swindon to be part of the delivery of the Signalling, Electrical & Plant and Permanent Way elements of this high profile project.
The PM duties will typically include:-
- Assisting with tender document preparation, tender evaluation and supplier selection.
- Assisting with establishing, monitoring and amending the integrated project programme.
- Attending or chairing contractors and consultants progress meetings as necessary.
- Liaising with the site management staff.
- Co-ordinating team tasks with key members such as commercial, project control, engineering, health, safety, quality and the environment supports.
- Reporting on progress, key risks and issues.
- Reviewing and establishing management action plans for dealing with project risks and issues.
- Assisting with evaluation of contract changes.
- Carrying out occasional site supervision or site safety inspection.
Key Characteristics
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within a team environment.
- Ability to analyse problems, establish solutions and make recommendations for action.
- Educated to HNC/HND, Degree or similar standard, preferably in a technical discipline.
- Must have a background within the railway/construction industry or within a project management environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations including CDM.
