Project Manager – Rail

Reference: JV0809-121
Location: England > South East, Reading
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000
Job Type: Permanent

The Reading Station Area Re-development (RSAR) Programme obtained full funding in the Government HLOS announcement of June 2007. The Programme will deliver significant enhancements to the rail network within the Reading area.

The £650m Programme of Works is scheduled to run from 2007 -2015 and encompasses permanent way, signalling, civil engineering, power supply upgrades and a comprehensive station re-development including the construction of new concourse and passenger transfer facility.

A position has recently been created for a Project Manager to lead the design development and delivery of the Station Redevelopment works associated with the Reading Station Redevelopment Programme.

For a construction professional, it is the chance to get fully involved in all aspects of the project and still see the bigger picture. If you want to be part of it, now is the time to act.

You will be expected to provide advice, guidance and leadership to consultants, contractors and Project Delivery staff involved in all aspects of the project. Working closely with the associated permanent way and signalling project teams, your prime responsibility will be to implement robust systems to ensure all activities meet strict technical, commercial, quality and safety objectives consistent with internal requirements, relevant legislation, Railway Group standards and project control procedures.

The Programme represents a significant delivery challenge but one which will excite and reward.

The scale of the role demands significant year's experience in rail engineering/contracting, with exposure to multi-disciplinary projects running concurrently, ideally in both the areas of Design & Construction of Station Buildings. Initiative, excellent prioritising skills and the professional credibility to influence and persuade at all levels will be key.
