QUALITY OF SUPPLY MANAGER

Description:

This position, for a Quality of Supply Manager, represents a fantastic opportunity for an electrical engineer with a strong background in electricity distribution engineering.


You will lead the development of quality of supply strategies and oversee the implementation of quality of supply policies to ensure all targets are met. This will involve analysing and forecasting fault trends, assessing alternative quality of supply strategies and solutions, evaluating and introducing appropriate technology and implementing effective quality of supply performance metrics. In doing this, you'll be expected to work in close cooperation with other departments and represent the organisation at meetings with external bodies.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Develop and document Quality of Supply Strategy for company’s distribution licence areas.
  2. Work with all parts of the Network Branch to ensure a co-ordinated delivery of this strategy.
  3. Analyse network issues and performance problems and propose efficient, workable solutions.
  4. Assist Distribution Planning team.
  5. Carry out post investment appraisals of Quality of Supply strategy.
  6. Work closely with Technology Development to evaluate the benefits of new technology in terms of improved QoS performance and bring these developments into action.
  7. Deputise for the Network Strategy & Performance Manager when called upon to do so.
  8. Provide advice to others within the team and mentor junior engineers.

How success will be measured:

  1. Effective management of all stakeholders, including the Regulator and other influential bodies.
  2. Contributes to the achievement of the network performance targets for Customer Interruptions (CIs) and Customer Minutes Lost (CMLs).
  3. Successful implementation of Network policies and procedures, including health and safety.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Preferably a Graduate Electrical Power Engineer (or equivalent), member of IET and chartered status beneficial.
  • Experience and technical understanding of the principles of distribution engineering design and operation
  • Good understanding of the regulatory framework under which distribution companies operate and in particular the requirements of Ofgem’s QoS targets
  • Awareness of current and technological developments in distribution plant and equipment – and futuristic concepts for network design
  • Knowledge of Distribution Code requirements, in particular those associated with Planning & Design
