Description:
You'll be engaged on rail related projects concerned with power supplies, acting as the Commissioning Manager on a permanent basis. You'll be expected to ensure that work is completed in accordance with specifications set out during the design stage by drawing up testing and commissioning plans and strategies. The Commissioning Manager will co-ordinate the witnessing and testing, making sure errors are reported.
Main Duties:
Preparation of testing and commissioning strategies and setting of standards.
Co-ordination of testing and commissioning works, including interfaces with client and other contractors on site. As Commissioning Manager, you will set the standard, with the Engineering Manager implementing and planning it.
Liaison with the design team.
Making sure the commissioning team have adequate resources to carry out their tasks and that the engineers engaged in the work are competent.
The Commissioning Manager will make sure the above can be continually monitored through regular meetings and reviews of requirements and procedures.
To be considered, the Commissioning Manager must have a background working in the commissioning of electrical systems for the railways. Therefore, an appreciation of DC and AC electrification systems is essential, as is the ability to manage staff. The Commissioning Manager should possess a thorough knowledge of Network Rail and LUL standards and CDM regulations. Furthermore, the Commissioning Manager should display a strong understanding of safety, quality and environmental issues relating to the railway industry.
